Christmas Eve --- yep, another year just about ending and the beginning of a new one. Family time this year is all important to me. I have found a new love of family and connections that are necessary as I am on the down hill slide of life.
They say that the 60's are the new 40's of living years. I would totally agree with my young attitude and crazy mindset on things I see and hear daily. My body, not so much. My mind thinks it is still somewhere between 11 and 40 years old (depending on whom I am with and what we are participating in), but my body goes from feeling 89 to feeling like it is one step away from the grave (like 125).
Anyway, I digress. Family is important and life is too short to hate and hold grudges with your family. YOU can find a mutual toleration space between you all if you just try. I am not saying that you have to become sweet as cherry pie or communicate 24/7, nothing like that, but you can be cordial and endure. Then, go about your life and know that you can choose to forgive but never forget. And you do not have to be present for the games that family or friends often play. They are negative people and you do not have to validate their presence in your life. You honor and validate you, your heart, your soul. Love yourself. Let go of what holds you prisoner and find freedom outside the walls of the trauma and drama that sometimes comes with family.
That's all. Off my soapbox for now.
WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A MERRY NEW YEAR!
Most likely see you all next year!
Grandma Leanne
